August’s Health and Fitness Quest

Today was my first official day in my health and fitness quest. I got up at 6:30 am and took our dog for a 30 minute walk. It felt good. I didn’t walk super fast, just a nice pace that allowed me to break a sweat. When I got home I was tired-I am out of shape! So instead of having a productive hour before my kids woke up, I went back to bed-ha!
As far as eating, I had a fruit smoothie for breakfast. I bought a single serving blender at Wal-mart. It makes it easier because there are fewer parts to wash and you drink the smoothie right from the cup you blend it in. I used low-fat yogurt, low-fat milk, frozen fruit (pure fruit-no sugar added) and a little bit of honey. It was really good.
For lunch I had turkey deli meat, cheese and fruit. Some chips (1 serving) and salsa for a snack and grilled chicken and vegetables for dinner. Not bad for the first day!
Today I did the beginner Mom’s Workout from the DVD. Let me tell you, it was not easy! Both of my girls did it along with me and had a blast. After dinner we all took the dogs for a walk as a family. Now, that walk consisted of about 2 blocks so it was not a ‘workout’ for me or for my husband. However, for the short legs of a 2 and 4 year old it was a great workout! And yes, my two year old walked the entire time! It is so cute because they hold hands while my husband and I each have one of the dogs.
I am beat tonight-a sign that I worked hard! Looking forward to a good nights sleep.
